Lihølen

Lihølen is the uppermost of the four pools on the classic Ljøkjel/Vormstad beat. This beat is really productive. During 2015 192 salmon were caught in the four pools. The beat is below Svorkmo on the lower reaches of the Orkla which means that you almost always have higher water than in the upper reaches.

Lihølen is a stony pool with fast-flowing water, best fished when the water is really low. The neck below the windbreak is a sure thing, as fish often rest here after negotiating the fast, difficult waters of the rapids. At high water, pockets of slower water are formed near the banks, and it is here you find salmon. The west bank – by the road – provides the best opportunities for fishing

when the water is high, even if the terrain is difficult and casting is a challenge! If you want to fish the faster parts of the pool then different types of sinking lines are to be preferred in order to slow down the fly a bit.
Lihølen is about 500 metres long and can be fished from both banks.
